🔥 Who They're Recruiting

No employer roster has been released, so treat the sector list as the roster. It is weighted toward the jobs that actually turn over in this metro: freight and last-mile delivery out of the North San Jose and Milpitas distribution corridor, contract manufacturing and assembly, building trades, licensed security, store-level retail and postal work.

The rule that trips people up: the address where you perform the work sets the floor, not where you live and not where the company is headquartered. A shift on Las Plumas Avenue is a San Jose job at the San Jose rate. The same company's dock a few exits up in Milpitas or Santa Clara answers to that city's ordinance instead.

Don't anchor to the floor, though. Warehouse and delivery postings around San Jose commonly advertise from the high teens into the high twenties per hour, and credentialed trades and security go higher. Metro unemployment was 4.0 percent in the most recent federal reading, up from 3.5 percent in May. Hiring is steady, not frantic, which is exactly why showing up in person beats the resume pile.
