Santa Clara County Fall Career Expo Comes to San Jose October 27

SAN JOSE, CA — The County of Santa Clara is opening its doors to job seekers on Tuesday, October 27, when its Fall 2026 Career & Community Resource Expo fills the Civic Center plaza on West Hedding Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 20 county departments and community organizations will be on hand, admission is free, and the county is plain about one thing up front: this is a place to learn how county hiring works, not a place to get interviewed.

Fire, sheriff, parks, probation, 9-1-1 and more, all at one address north of downtown. RSVP free, bring a resume, and leave with a plan.

🔥 Which County Departments Are Coming

Santa Clara County is one of the biggest employers in the valley, with a workforce the county puts at more than 24,000 people serving roughly 1.9 million residents. The expo is its chance to show job seekers what sits behind that number. Departments confirmed on the county's listing include County Fire, Parks and Recreation, the Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney, Probation, Emergency Medical Services, Tax and Collections and County 9-1-1, with more expected.

Three short spotlight sessions will cover careers in the county parks system, medical assistant roles and job search strategy. A staffed computer lab lets you start or fix a county application with help at your elbow, and the first 100 people get a free professional headshot. Community organizations will have tables too.

⚠️ Read This Before You Go: No Interviews on Site

The county says it directly: this is not a hiring event, and no interviews will take place. Nobody walks out with an offer. What you can walk out with is a clear idea of which department fits you, how its exams and application windows work, and a finished application started in the computer lab.

County jobs are posted and applied for online, often with a closing date, so treat the expo as a head start. Look over current openings on the county's official jobs portal before October 27 and bring questions about the specific postings you want.

Disability Inclusion Day, Thursday, October 1, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The City of San Jose's free resource and employment fair at City Hall, 200 East Santa Clara Street, with about 100 vendors covering education, recreation and employment, plus ASL interpreters on site. When and where is the Santa Clara County career expo?
